19 August 2024The Eswatini Television Authority and the English Premier League (EPL) have formed a partnership through the British High Commission to bring the Premier League to Eswatini’s leading television broadcaster.
Eswatini TV successfully secured the rights to broadcast 33 EPL matches that will play in the course of the highly anticipated 2024/25 season, with the first broadcast set for 17 August (Arsenal vs Wolves). To amplify the kingdom’s love for football, the TV station aims to give a relevant and home-centred feel for each match through in-studio build-ups, half-time, and post-match analyses presented by the Eswatini TV Sports desk team.
The partnership between EPL and Eswatini TV is seen as an underscore to the long standing relationship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Eswatini. With the culture of football at the centre of British hearts, this initiative aims to help Swazis benefit from the ambiance of British football by sparking more support and participation for the sport. “We hope that this partnership will lead the British High Commission to help the Premier League in establishing the right level of football training and academy in Eswatini,” said Acting British High Commissioner Mr. Elliot Haynes during an interview on Kusile Breakfast Show.
Eswatini TV understands that acting upon its viewer’s preferences is a key guide on the road to reaching its visionary global broadcasting status, this was expressed by Eswatini TV Senior Marketing and Communications Officer, Nomcebo Malinga, while discussing what the broadcasting rights meant for Eswatini TV. “We hope that this achievement to broadcast the EPL assures our viewers and supporters of the conducive steps being taken by the broadcaster to provide more optimal program offerings,” she added. Eswatini TV viewers can now proudly join the world in awaiting the much anticipated weekend kick-off.
