16 August 2024Mbabane: As the saying goes, ‘a clean space mirrors a clean mind,’ about 30 volunteers from ASEZ WAO – the Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group of the World Mission Society Church of God, gathered to clean a portion of Sidvwashini on Sunday 11-08.
The group consisted of Swazi and South Korean volunteers who vigorously worked together to collect over 50 bags of trash, from Mbangweni Avenue to Somhlolo Avenue. The volunteers say that they practice love for humankind and the earth with the heart of a mother.
ASEZ WAO, which stands for Save the Earth from A to Z – We Are One, encourages the message ‘let us save the earth from beginning to the end as one family’. Since its establishment in 2017, the group has thrived in performing the UNSDGs through environmental and societal activities that have led it to being honoured with numerous accolades, such as the United States President’s Volunteer Service Award and the prestigious Green Apple Environment Awards.
Demonstrating the initiative to show love to the earth through good deeds, the Church of God volunteer group aims to shine the light of good consciousness in the kingdom by putting into practice the words of Christ, “love your neighbour as yourself.” “The clean-up campaign was a concerted effort that brought together members of our congregation in a spirit of unity and service. Throughout the day, we worked tirelessly, not only to clean the physical space but also to strengthen the bonds within our community,” said Sihle Nhleko, who was one of the volunteers.
The Municipal Council of Mbabane supported the volunteer activity, which expressed the open arms of the Council to collaborating with organizations like ASEZ WAO, which take initiative in making the world a better place.
