16 May 2024The Central Bank of Eswatini was established in 1974, and on 10th May 2024, the bank celebrated 50 years of price and financial stability at Ezulwini.
The celebration was graced by the attendance of His Majesty, King Mswati III, The Royal Family, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, and fellow dignitaries. To honour the bank’s milestone, the Chairman of the SADC Committee of Central Bank Governors, Lesetja Kganyago, and SADC Central Bank governors were also in attendance.
Highlights from the event were His Majesty King Mswati III turning the sod for the construction of the bank’s new E1 billion headquarters, where a state of the art 18-storey building will be built with outstretching facilities such as a museum and recreational field. The 3D plan of the 21 hectare site was revealed to His Majesty and the nation by Central Bank Governor Dr. Phil Mnisi.
The Central Bank also took advantage of the auspicious occasion to unveil their new logo. His Majesty King Mswati III then honoured the bank by announcing and revealing a new E50 note, in honour of 50 years of the Central Bank of Eswatini.
The memorable night was full of beautiful performances, eye-catching fashion, and fine dining, all with a prestigious ceremony that was mastered by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Neil Rijkenberg.
What ended with a display of fireworks was an unforgettable jubilee that celebrated 50 past years, and marked 50 more years of economic development with the Central Bank of Eswatini.
